DECISION-MAKING TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
ENHANCE YOUR CAPABILITIES AND DIFFERENTIATE YOUR SKILLS
Our training and development are for decision-makers, leaders, and practitioners who deliver the results. Our training and development efforts are case-based and hands-on development in making the right choice and knowing when a decision is good, evaluating alternatives, modeling and analytics, and framing and structuring opportunities or problems.
We offer two types of training course categories. The On-Site Training available upon request [can be customized depending on your needs, see ideas for training below], and the Standard Training offered through course providers or self-registered here at our training facilities.

Description
Successful decision-making requires a structured framework; intuition is not sufficient. Ensuring a business invest in the best alternative(s) is essential for sustainable value and competitiveness. Discover how you can steer away from poor choices and always make the right decision for yourself and your company.
This course applies a Decision Science approach to making good decisions under uncertainty. It enables you to understand what makes a high-quality decision and provides a framework for how to solve decision problems.
This case-based course explores key elements of decision quality often overlooked in decision-making. After this course, you will be able to (i) actively use the critical elements in the decision-making by asking a set of critical questions, (ii) explore economic analysis and how to interpret probabilistic economic results and conduct tradeoffs, and (iii) how to ensure you are making a good decision.
Learning Summary
- Ability to assess critical elements of decision quality.
- Learn the essential tools to structure decision problems to guide project teams.
- Learn how cash flow economics are used to provide economic decision criteria.
- Ability to use sensitivity analysis to identify key value drivers – Find out what matters.
- Learn about deterministic and probabilistic analysis and interpretation of its results.
- Learn how to make decisions under uncertainty.
- Learn how to make decisions with multiple objectives – tradeoffs.
- Ability to assess the quality of your decision – how to always make the right choice.

Examples of Training Courses:
MAKING THE RIGHT DECISION UNDER UNCERTAINTY, 1-DAY
This course is intended to give managers, leaders, and decision-makers a framework to make good decisions and recognizing when a decision is bad. You will be taken through what to look for in the early stages of an opportunity or problem, how scope and solutions can be developed in a meaningful and novel way, what questions to ask to validate the strengths of information used in the analyses, the importance of decision criteria and tradeoffs between them, how to use logically and correct reasoning when making decisions, and how you create commitment to action around the solution(s) selected. The course will allow you to practice decision-making and support your teams in an efficient way through projects, investments, or other business decisions. Elements we will cover include: the concept of Decision Quality, framing and structuring, deterministic and probabilistic analysis, evaluation, and alternative selection. The course is a mix of presentations and hands-on case studies.
DECISION SCIENCE OVERVIEW, 1-DAY
This overview course is intended to give you a high-level overview of what Decision Science / Decision Analysis (DA) is, how it can help you and your decision-makers to make better decisions. We will touch upon the DA frameworks, tools, techniques, and best practices used for efficient decision-making. Elements we will cover include: the concept of Decision Quality, framing and structuring, deterministic and probabilistic analysis, evaluation, and alternative selection. The course is a mix of presentation and hands-on case studies and is suitable for analysts, decision-makers, project teams and leaders, controllers, etc.
FRAMING & FACILITATION, 2-3 DAYS
This course will equip you with a framework, tools, and practices for efficient framing and structuring of business problems and opportunities. You will get hands-on practice using these elements through several business case studies that can be applied in your business. A solid problem/opportunity-frame is essential for structuring your analysis and for providing valuable insights to your decision-makers. Secondly, the course will provide you with a good understanding of how to facilitate meetings, workshops, and framing meetings. The course will give you an opportunity to practice facilitation techniques that are used to utilize the strength of your team.
DECISION SCIENCE – MODELING AND EVALUATION, 1-3 DAYS
This is an intensive introductory course that will take you through many of the elements of Decision Science / Decision Analysis (DA). The course is a hands-on computer-based course which will cover DA elements such as framing and structuring, deterministic decision modeling under risk and uncertainty, probabilistic modeling, evaluation and insights, and communication of result to management. The class will briefly also cover more complex analytics such as Value of Information (VOI) analysis. The expectation after the course is that you know how to frame and structure problems, understand how value-focused thinking can be applied to business problems/opportunities, capable to identify key value drivers, understand deterministic and probabilistic modeling, and that you understand how to draw insights from analysis and make these insights presentable to management and decision-makers.
